This resource has been developed in direct response to the findings of NHS Hull’s local annual suicide audit which has shown repeatedly over the years that 75% of people who have died by suicide have been men, the majority of whom were in the age range 25 – 50.
The findings also indicated that many of these men did not seek help at the time that life was becoming really difficult. Nationally there has been a emphasis on the issue of levels of suicide among young men and resources have tended to focus on the younger age group. This resource has been developed to reflect the critical age range as identified in the Hull area. However our research undertaken during the making of this film has shown that it was felt to be of relevance to both young and older groups of men.
